Our Phoenix office is looking to hire an Electrical Engineering Intern. This will be a part-time position consisting of 10 - 20 hours per week during the school semesters and 20-40 during the summer as workload allows. The main responsibilities will be in assisting project engineers and project managers in the planning, design and construction engineering of our electrical designs for water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects for municipal and private clients across the state. Administrative support will also be needed from time to time.

In this role, your responsibilities may include:

  • Creation of electrical drawings including: single lines, plan views, conduit block diagrams, control schematics, and process & instrumentation diagrams
  • Detailed design of electrical systems
  • Preparation of electrical equipment procurement specifications
  • Preparation of control description

Key Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering Bachelor or Masters degree program
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) certification preferred or the intent to pursue it
  • Working knowledge of NFPA70 (NEC) and other electrical industry codes, standards and recommended practices is preferred
  • AutoCAD skills would be a plus
  • A valid drivers license
  • A personal vehicle that may be used for work-related, local, travel (reimbursed at government standard rates).
  • Ability to learn on the job applying theory in a practical setting
  • Understanding of Electrical Engineering fundamentals
  • Exposure to hydraulics, water resources, public water systems, and/or unit operations subjects would be advantageous
  • Able to balance studies and workload
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Able to follow directions
  • Works well with others
  • Strong communication skills
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations and deadlines
